معرفی
Martín Calvelo Souto is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Research Center in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Materials (CIQUS) within the University of Santiago de Compostela. His research focuses on supramolecular systems, nanobiomimetics, and molecular biophysics, particularly exploring self-assembled cyclic peptide nanotubes and their applications in catalysis and membrane interactions. He completed his doctoral studies in 2021 under the supervision of Dr. Rebeca García Fandiño and Dr. Juan Ramón Granja Guillán, with a thesis titled Computational methods for the design and applications of self-assembled cyclic peptide nanotubes.
His work integrates experimental and computational approaches to study peptide self-assembly dynamics, enzymatic mechanisms, and drug delivery systems. Key research directions include:
- Development of modular supramolecular capsules for confined catalysis
- Mechanistic studies of iridium- and palladium-catalyzed organic reactions
- Antimicrobial peptide interactions with biological membranes
- Computational modeling of peptide nanotube behavior using advanced force fields
Notable contributions include the design of peptide-based nanotubes for membrane targeting therapies and the creation of the SuPepMem database for innate immune system peptides. His research bridges organic synthesis, biophysics, and computational chemistry to advance biomimetic materials and drug development.
