Beatrice Zani is a Research Fellow at the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) in France, affiliated with the Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire pour la sociologie économique (LISE). Her work focuses on transnational migration, digital economies, and gender studies, particularly in East Asia. She holds a PhD from Lyon University (2019) and has postdoctoral experience at the University of Tübingen and McGill University. Her research examines migrant entrepreneurship, labor exploitation, and digital connectivity, with a focus on China, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia.
She has been recognized with awards such as the Christian Ricourt Prize in Taiwanese Studies and the Lyon 2 University Dissertation Award. Her recent publications include monographs on migrant women's digital entrepreneurship and edited volumes on global migration trends. Zani has also served as a research associate at the European Research Center on Contemporary Taiwan and the Taiwan Studies Center at UCSB.
Her articles analyze topics like irregular labor in rural Taiwan, the role of digital platforms in migrant activism, and multidirectional citizenship pathways across the Taiwan Strait. She frequently collaborates with institutions like the Mobile Lives Forum and contributes to journals such as Transfers and Journal of Agrarian Change.
