Beatrice Ifie is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Biological, Environmental & Rural Sciences (IBERS), Aberystwyth University. Her research focuses on plant breeding, genomic prediction, and agronomic trait improvement for staple crops like maize and cassava, particularly under biotic/abiotic stressors such as Striga infestation, drought, and lethal necrosis. She contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to food security and sustainable agriculture.
Recent Research Trends: Her 2024–2025 publications emphasize
- Genomic tools for yield prediction in tropical maize
- Agromorphological characterization of biofortified cassava
- Resource-efficient breeding trial designs
- Combining ability analysis for stress tolerance
Projects & Collaborations: In 2024, she contributed to the BBSRC International Institutional Awards project at IBERS. She has collaborated on multi-environment trials across Africa and participated in the 2023 Welsh Research & Development Reception.
Outreach & Impact: In 2021, she was featured in media coverage about combating food insecurity in Ghana through institutional partnerships.
