Beatrice Demarchi

Professor Beatrice Demarchi is affiliated with the Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology at the University of Turin. She specializes in bioarchaeology, paleomolecular analysis, and human-environment interactions in prehistoric contexts.

Research Interests: Her work focuses on the preservation of organic materials in archaeological settings, including protein sequences in deep time, amino acid racemization dating, and the analysis of Neolithic collagen-based coatings. She investigates dietary transitions, animal domestication, and environmental impacts on organic remains.

Selected Research Projects: Current projects include studies on the evolution of dietary diversity in Europe, high-resolution human-environment interactions at Boomplaas Cave, and novel bioarchaeological approaches to ancient textile manufacture.

Teaching: Demarchi teaches courses on bioarchaeology, paleomolecular analysis, and the evolution of animal and human behavior within the Cultural Heritage and Biological Sciences programs.
