Battista Severgnini is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Copenhagen Business School (CBS). He holds a Ph.D. from Humboldt University, Berlin. His research focuses on Economic Growth, Labour Economics, Sport Economics, and Economic History. He has held visiting positions at UC Berkeley and Bocconi University. His work has been published in journals like the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization and European Economic Review.
Education: Ph.D. in Economics from Humboldt University (2010), M.Sc. from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2003), and Laurea from Bocconi University (2000). Teaching includes courses on Applied Econometrics, Economic Growth, and the Economics of Sports.
Research interests emphasize productivity measurement, historical economic shocks, and migration effects. Recent work explores the impact of early parental death on economic outcomes and the historical roots of rebellion in Ireland. He has received the Best Teacher award at CBS (2010-2011).
Publications span 37+ peer-reviewed articles, with notable contributions on serfdom's labor market effects in Denmark and the decline of Italian professional football. He serves as a research fellow at Fondazione Rodolfo Debenedetti and contributes to policy analysis for the European Commission.
