Bas Dietzenbacher is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Quantitative Economics at Maastricht University, The Netherlands. He specializes in mathematical economics and game theory, focusing on cooperative game theory, fair division, and mechanism design. His work includes analyzing core stability, allocation mechanisms under single-dipped preferences, and bankruptcy problems. Dietzenbacher earned his PhD from Tilburg University’s CentER and Department of Econometrics and Operations Research. He has held a Research Fellowship at HSE University in St. Petersburg, Russia, and organized the 2025 European Meeting on Game Theory (SING20). His research has been recognized with the SING Best Student Paper Prize (2018) and GOR Young Researchers Award (2019).
Education:
- PhD in Economics, Tilburg University (CentER)
- MSc in Econometrics and Operations Research, Tilburg University
Research Interests: Dietzenbacher’s research emphasizes cooperative game theory applications, including fair allocation mechanisms, core stability analysis, and axiomatic characterizations of solutions. He explores game-theoretic models for streaming platforms, bankruptcy problems, and dynamic resource reallocation under constrained preferences. Key themes include egalitarian principles, computational game theory, and stability-efficiency trade-offs.
Grants and Awards:
- SING Best Student Paper Prize 2018
- GOR Young Researchers Award 2019
Professional Activities: Organized SING20 conference (2025). Previously affiliated with HSE University as a Research Fellow. Actively contributes to international game theory research networks.
