Geoffroy de Clippel is a Professor of Economics at Brown University, specializing in game theory, bargaining theory, and behavioral economics. He holds a PhD, MA, and BA from the Catholic University of Louvain (2003, 1999, 1998). His research focuses on mechanism design, social choice theory, and the implications of bounded rationality in economic decision-making. He collaborates with researchers like Brian Knight and Kareen Rozen, exploring topics such as strategic communication, fair allocation under asymmetric information, and axiomatic bargaining models.
Teaching includes courses on game theory (ECON 1090, 1870), microeconomics (ECON 1110), behavioral economics (ECON 1820), and advanced topics like risk and uncertainty (ECON 2160). His work bridges theoretical foundations with practical applications, addressing how individuals and institutions make decisions under complexity and incomplete information.
Key research themes include:
- Behavioral implementation and deviations from rational choice
- Egalitarian equivalence in allocation mechanisms
- Strategic disclosure of information
- Cooperative game theory and core solutions
