Dr. Arantza Estevez Fernandez is an Associate Professor at the School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and an Operations Analytics Research Fellow at the Tinbergen Institute. She holds a PhD in Operations Research from Tilburg University (2006) and has been at Vrije Universiteit since 2007, previously working as a postdoc at CWI (Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica). She currently serves as programme coordinator for the BSc Econometrics and Operations Research.
Research Focus: Her expertise spans Cooperative Game Theory, Game Theory, Operations Research, Mathematical Methods, and Microeconometrics. Her work addresses fair allocation mechanisms, bankruptcy problems, toll allocation, and cooperative strategies in multi-agent systems. Recent projects include applications in transportation economics and structural game analysis.
Teaching: She teaches courses such as Operations Research I, Analysis I/II, and Decision Theory for Business, reflecting her dual focus on mathematical rigor and practical application.
Awards & Grants: She received the NWO Incidentele Steun Grant (2014) for collaborative research. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in fostering equitable solutions through game-theoretic frameworks.
Supervision & Collaboration: She has supervised three PhD theses, including studies on partial permission structures in games and cooperative fuzzy games. Her research network spans international collaborations, with recent focus on Spain, China, and Germany.
