Bartomeu Sastre Canals

Bartomeu Sastre Canals is an Associate lecturer in Geography specializing in Physical geography at the University of the Balearic Islands. He teaches Natural Science and Teaching for the Degree in Early Childhood Education across multiple academic years and has previously taught Coastal Geomorphology for the Degree in Geography.

His educational background includes a Diploma in Education from UIB in Social Sciences, a Degree in Philosophy from UIB with Geography specialization, a Postgraduate in flood risks, and a Doctorate in Physical Geography from UIB. His academic journey demonstrates deep specialization in geographical sciences with practical applications in risk assessment.

Dr. Sastre Canals' research focuses on Geomorphology, Climatology, and Natural Hazards, with extensive publications in geomorphology and risk assessment. His work particularly emphasizes coastal processes and flood risk management in the Balearic Islands context, bridging theoretical geographical knowledge with practical hazard mitigation strategies.

He actively participates in two major research structures: the Education and Behavioural Geography (GIEGP) R+D+I Group and the Natural Hazards and Emergencies Observatory of the Balearic Islands (RiscBal), where he contributes to systematic observation and analysis of natural hazard phenomena.

As an educator, Dr. Sastre Canals supervises Final Degree Projects in Early Childhood Education and integrates geographical knowledge into early childhood science education. His teaching approach connects physical geography concepts with educational methodologies, particularly in natural science instruction for young learners.
