Bartolomeo Coppola

Bartolomeo Coppola is an Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Science and Technology (DISAT), Polytechnic University of Turin, and a member of the Interdepartmental Center SISCON (Safety of Infrastructures and Constructions). His work bridges materials science, civil engineering, and biomedical applications through advanced manufacturing techniques.

Research Interests:

• 3D printing of ceramics, polymers, and composites using stereolithography (DLP) and robocasting
• Development of sustainable, low-impact binding materials from industrial by-products
• Biomaterials for bone tissue engineering and dental applications
• Durability of construction materials and heritage conservation
• Functional ceramics for environmental applications (CO₂ capture, humidity sensing)

The recent publications highlight a strong trend in functionalized porous ceramics for environmental remediation, biocompatible scaffolds with antimicrobial properties, and sustainable construction materials. His work integrates digital fabrication, material characterization, and lifecycle analysis.

He is the Scientific Manager of the commercial project Challenge@PoliTo by Firms – A NEW Life for Alumina-based Wastes (NewLAW), funded by SACAL S.P.A., promoting innovative teaching and industrial collaboration.
