Barthe Aude is a Research Fellow conducting a cotutelle doctoral program between the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland) and Université Paris-Cité (France). Her research focuses on the historical analysis of clothing repair practices in 19th-century France and the United Kingdom (1850–1914). She examines repair spaces (domestic environments, workshops, factories), actors involved, and technical skills required for garment restoration through a comparative urban study of major cities in both nations.
Educational background: Master’s in History from Université Paris-Cité (2020), and a professional master’s in Urban Planning, Architecture, and Heritage. She joined the University of Neuchâtel’s History Institute in 2022 under Prof. Gianenrico Bernasconi, co-supervised by Prof. Ariane Fennetaux at Université Paris-Cité.
Her research bridges material culture, social history, and technological practices, emphasizing the socio-economic dimensions of textile repair in industrializing societies.
