Bart Selman holds the Joseph C. Ford Professorship of Engineering and Computer Science at Cornell University, serving as President-Elect of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) and co-Chair of the U.S. national AI research roadmap initiative. Previously at AT&T Bell Laboratories, he maintains active leadership in shaping global AI research priorities and policy.
His interdisciplinary research spans core artificial intelligence domains including Computational Sustainability, Knowledge Representation, Deep Learning, and Reinforcement Learning, with notable investigations into connections between Computer Science and Statistical Physics. This work bridges theoretical foundations with real-world applications in efficient reasoning systems and sustainable computing.
