Dieter Fox is a Professor at the University of Washington's Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering, heading the Robotics and State Estimation Lab (RSE-Lab) while also contributing to the Allen Institute for AI (Ai2) on robotics foundation models. Previously, he led NVIDIA's Robotics Research Lab in Seattle for eight years.
He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Bonn (Germany) in 1998 and joined UW's faculty in fall 2000. His research focuses on Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, specifically state estimation, perception-control integration, and applications in human activity recognition, 3D environment mapping, and robot manipulation systems.
