Bart Neyns is a Clinical Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), and Head of Department at the Department of Medical Oncology, UZ Brussel. He holds a dual role as a physician specializing in Medical Oncology and an academic researcher focusing on immune and targeted therapies for melanoma and glioma. His work emphasizes academia-sponsored clinical trials, including dendritic cell therapies and novel immunotherapies.
Education: MD (1992) and PhD (2001) from VUB. Research focuses on melanoma and glioma treatment, with a strong emphasis on translational oncology and clinical trial development. He has led over 30 research projects, including pioneering trials with TriMixDC therapy and CAR-T cell therapies for glioblastoma.
Research Interests: Immune therapy mechanisms, targeted drug development, and molecular profiling of tumors. Key areas include combination therapies, biomarker discovery, and overcoming treatment resistance in solid tumors.
Notable Activities: Principal Investigator for 15+ clinical trials, member of ESMO and ASCO, and frequent speaker at international congresses. Recent projects include GlioCAR (B7-H3 nanoCAR-T therapy) and MOTUNE-T therapy for recurrent glioblastoma.
