Barry Ryan is a Lecturer in Vocal Studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney. He holds an Order of Australia Medal for services to classical music and a Green Room Award for his role in *The Riders*. Ryan has performed with leading opera companies globally, including Royal Opera Covent Garden, La Scala Milan, and the Paris Opera Bastille. His operatic roles span over 20 major works, such as *Nixon in China*, *Madama Butterfly*, and *Götterdämmerung*.
His research interests focus on vocal performance techniques, baritone repertoire, and operatic interpretation. Recent performances include Mahler's *Lieder eines Fahrenden Gesellen* with the Sydney Conservatorium Orchestra and Vaughan Williams' *Songs of Travel*. He has collaborated with renowned conductors like Riccardo Muti and Zubin Mehta.
Ryan’s awards include the Shell Aria Award and Vienna State Opera Award. He lectures in Voice and Opera, emphasizing classical vocal training and contemporary operatic practices. Notable recordings include *Rusalka* (Chandos Records) and *Bliss* (ABC Classics).
