Barry Rabe is a Professor of Public Policy at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, University of Michigan, with additional appointments in the School of Natural Resources and Environment and the Program in the Environment. He also serves as a non-resident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. His research focuses on climate governance, intergovernmental relations, and environmental policy, particularly state-level climate change policies. Rabe holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Chicago (2004), alongside an M.A. (Political Science) and B.A. (History) from Carthage College.
Key Achievements:
- Recipient of the first-ever Climate Protection Award (U.S. EPA, 2006) for bridging scholarship and policy.
- Author of Statehouse and Greenhouse (2004), awarded the Lynton Keith Caldwell Prize (APSA, 2005).
- Former editor of the American Governance and Public Policy book series (1994-2004).
