Barnabás Vajda is an Associate Professor at the Department of History, Faculty of Education, Selye János University in Komárno, Slovakia. With a habilitation degree (Dr. habil.) and PhD, he has been teaching since 2005, initially as an Assistant Lecturer until 2015, and as an Associate Professor since then. Dr. Vajda specializes in Cold War history, particularly focusing on international relations, media propaganda during the Cold War era, and communist urbanization in Central Europe. His second major research area is history didactics, with emphasis on history textbook research and analysis of didactic apparatus in educational materials. He has supervised the development of innovative study materials for Cold War history courses.
His publications show a strong focus on Slovak-Hungarian historical relations, Cold War propaganda mechanisms, and the transformation of public spaces in southern Slovakia during the communist era. His work often bridges historical research with educational applications, making complex historical narratives accessible for teaching purposes.

Dr. Vajda has been actively involved in international research collaborations, including projects with the Cold War International History Project of the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington D.C., the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute in Vienna, and the Visegrad Fund. His current projects demonstrate his ongoing commitment to exploring historical memory and public space transformations in Central Europe.
