Barbara Schumann is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Health and Caring Sciences, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, Linnaeus University since 2021. She holds a PhD in Health Science/Epidemiology from Martin-Luther University (2009) and an Associate Professorship from Umeå University (2017). Her research focuses on climate and health, socio-economic determinants of health, and global health.
Her work spans Sweden and low- and middle-income countries, with a current project, Drylands Transform, examining sustainable livelihoods among pastoralists in East Africa. Collaborations involve universities and organizations in Sweden, Kenya, and Uganda. She teaches transdisciplinary perspectives, quantitative research methods, and climate/environmental health.
She supervises theses at bachelor, master, and PhD levels. Publications include studies on climate-mortality projections, healthcare inequalities in Mozambique, and East African dryland livelihoods.
