Barbara Reynes Miralles

Barbara Reynes Miralles is a Professor in the Department of Fundamental Biology and Health Sciences at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). She holds a Biology degree (2010), a Biochemistry degree (2011), and a Master's in Nutrigenomics and Personalized Nutrition (2011) from UIB, where she also earned her PhD in 2015 with Cum Laude distinction. Her research focuses on transcriptomic biomarkers and bioactive compounds in obesity management, with 24 JCR-indexed publications, a co-authored international patent, and technology transferred to Agilent Technologies. She has contributed to 7 national and 3 international research projects. She teaches courses in biochemistry, molecular biology, and laboratory techniques at the undergraduate and master’s levels, including roles as thesis director in the Doctorate in Nutrigenomics and Personalized Nutrition program. She is affiliated with the Nutrigenómica, Biomarkers, and Risk Assessment (NuBE) research group.

Her career includes postdoctoral positions at CIBEROBN, a Torres-Quevedo researcher role at Alimentómica (2018–2022), and prior roles as Assistant Professor (2022–2023) before becoming a Permanent Lecturer in 2023. She has organized scientific conferences and contributed to over 40 conference presentations.
