Barbara Mitchell is a Professor of Gerontology and Sociology at Simon Fraser University (SFU), holding a joint appointment in the Department of Sociology. She has been teaching at SFU since 1994 and previously taught at the University of British Columbia. Her research focuses on aging families, intergenerational relations, and mixed-methods approaches to social policy and health promotion. Mitchell earned her PhD in Sociology from McMaster University (1995), with earlier degrees from the University of Waterloo.
