Barbara Luke

Barbara Luke is a Professor at the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology, Michigan State University. Her research focuses on improving outcomes in multiple pregnancies, perinatal nutrition, and infertility. She holds a ScD from Johns Hopkins University in maternal and child health, an MPH, and degrees in nursing, population studies, and foods/nutrition from Columbia University and New York University.

Research Contributions: Dr. Luke founded the University Consortium on Multiple Births, collaborating with institutions like Johns Hopkins and the University of Michigan. Her work on BMI-specific weight gain guidelines for twin pregnancies became the first national recommendations by the Institute of Medicine (2009). She also leads studies evaluating health outcomes post-assisted reproductive technologies through partnerships with SART and state registries.
