She concurrently serves as Head of Psychosocial Services at the Austrian Red Cross and Scientific Advisor to the European Network for Psychosocial Support (ENPS) and the IFRC Reference Center for Psychosocial Support. Her research is conducted through the EMKONT Research Center, focusing on crisis response systems.
Research Focus
Prof. Juen specializes in acute psychological responses to disasters and public health emergencies. Her core domains include:
- Clinical & Emergency Psychology: Trauma interventions, crisis support frameworks, and disaster mental health protocols.
- Developmental Psychotraumatology: Age-specific trauma impacts, with emphasis on children and adolescents during crises.
- Pandemic & Climate Psychology: Psychosocial dimensions of COVID-19 and climate-related distress.
Publication Trends
Her recent work (2023–2025) demonstrates three dominant themes: COVID-19 psychosocial impacts (e.g., healthcare worker burnout, children's well-being), disaster resilience frameworks (organizational/individual vulnerability), and innovative interventions (yoga therapy, community engagement models). Methodologies prioritize mixed-methods approaches across clinical and community settings.
Professional Leadership
She oversees operational psychosocial response systems at the Austrian Red Cross and contributes to pan-European crisis guidelines. Her EMKONT Research Center facilitates interdisciplinary studies in medical-psychological emergency coordination.
