Prof. Dr. Barbara Hornberger is a Professor of Popular Music Didactics at the Institute of Music (IfM) at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. Her research focuses on popular music as a transdisciplinary field, cultural history, and educational processes in popular culture. She holds a Ph.D. on the Neue Deutsche Welle (New German Wave) from the University of Hildesheim (2009) and has held visiting professorships, including at the University of Siegen (2012–2013).
