Prof. Dr. Barbara Hornberger is a Professor of Popular Music Didactics at the Institute of Music (IfM) at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. Her research focuses on popular music as a transdisciplinary field, cultural history, and educational processes in popular culture. She holds a Ph.D. on the Neue Deutsche Welle (New German Wave) from the University of Hildesheim (2009) and has held visiting professorships, including at the University of Siegen (2012–2013). Her work bridges musicology, media studies, and cultural pedagogy, emphasizing the societal and educational roles of popular culture.
