Barbara Headle

Barbara Headle, M.A., is a Teaching Professor in the Department of History at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, part of the College of Letters, Arts & Sciences. Affectionately known as "Mrs. H.," she specializes in teaching diverse American History courses. Her academic credentials include a Master's degree from California State University, Northridge.

Research Focus: Professor Headle explores unique dimensions of American History through seven primary lenses:

• Historical Genealogy and Census Studies
• 19th-century poverty relief systems in the US and England
• Slavery in the United States
• Colonial & Early Republic America
• Cemetery Studies
• Environmental History of the American West

Awards & Recognition:

• 2007: Outstanding Teaching Award for part-time instructors (College of LAS)
• 2008: Outstanding Instructor Award (UCCS campus-wide)
