Barbara C. Wegher-Thompson

Barbara C. Wegher-Thompson is a Senior Adjunct Faculty Member in the Department of Theater and Dance at California Lutheran University (CLU), where she has taught for over 30 years. Her instructional roles include Alexander Technique, Linklater Voice, dance, and Movement for Actors, with a specialization in Viewpoints. She played a pivotal role in establishing CLU's Dance Minor in 2017 and directed the university's touring Children's Theater program for five years.

Research and Creative Expertise: Barbara's work spans choreography, directing, actor movement pedagogy, and dance instruction. Her interdisciplinary focus integrates Alexander Technique certification (Alexander Foundation, 1991) with theatrical performance, emphasizing modern dance, ballet, and youth theater development. She has choreographed over 15 CLU productions (e.g., West Side Story, Cabaret) and served as movement consultant for classical plays.

Leadership in Theater Education: As a founding teacher of CLU's Summer Theater Camp (now Camp Shakespeare), she directs annual Musical Theater Workshops. Externally, she contributed 25 years to Young Artists Ensemble (Thousand Oaks), directing/choreographing youth productions (The Sound of Music, Charlotte's Web) and founding the Hillcrest Players division for young performers.
