معرفی
Barbara Barylko is a researcher at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she has been since 1989. Her work focuses on understanding the role of unconventional myosins in cellular processes, particularly membrane protein trafficking and vesicle movement. She previously held an adjunct professorship at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Education:
- PhD from the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology (studies on troponin and skeletal muscle contraction)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship at NIH (focused on non-muscle myosin regulation)
Research Interests: Dr. Barylko investigates how myosin proteins facilitate lateral movement of membrane proteins and vesicle translocation. Her current work centers on myo1c’s role in stimulus-dependent receptor trafficking, including its implications in auditory adaptation and insulin-stimulated GLUT4 mobilization in adipocytes. She also explores myo1c’s association with lipid rafts and its functional significance in cellular processes.
