Baozhou Sun is a Professor and Director of Medical Physics at the Department of Radiation Oncology, Baylor College of Medicine. He holds a Ph.D. from the College of William and Mary, an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, and certifications from the American Board of Radiology. His research focuses on advancing radiation therapy techniques, including proton therapy, artificial intelligence applications in medical physics, and improving access to radiotherapy in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Education includes a BS from Jilin University (China), MS and PhD from William & Mary, and an MBA from Washington University. He completed a residency at Washington University in St. Louis. Key research interests include medical imaging optimization, adaptive treatment planning, and global healthcare equity in radiation oncology.
His work emphasizes developing practical solutions for LMICs, such as automated treatment planning and remote dosimetric auditing. He is a member of ASTRO and AAPM, contributing to standards in radiation therapy and medical physics. Current efforts include leveraging AI to streamline radiotherapy workflows and enhance quality assurance in resource-limited settings.
