Dr Banthita Hunt serves as a Lecturer at the Edge Hotel School, University of Essex, where she teaches a range of courses in tourism and hospitality. Previously, she was a lecturer at Prince of Songkla University in Thailand from June 2010 to January 2023, bringing an Asia-Pacific perspective to her academic work.
Her educational background includes:
- PhD in Poverty Reduction and Tourism in Bulon Island Thailand from the University of Bedfordshire (2017)
- MSc in Tourism and Marketing Management from Bournemouth University (2011)
- BA in International Business of China from Prince of Songkla University, Thailand (2009)
Dr Hunt's research focuses on sustainable tourism practices with an emphasis on community engagement and poverty reduction. Her key areas of interest are:

In 2024, Dr Hunt secured funding from the British Academy for a project titled "Research Management Capacity Strengthening of UK Universities and Research Center for Language, Culture and Human Development in Lower ASEAN (RC-LCHD) of Prince Songkla University (PSU) in Thailand". This project aims to enhance research collaboration between UK and Thai institutions.
