Bailey Choi-Vanos is a Lecturer in the Education Studies Department at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). She teaches undergraduate service-learning courses in the Partners at Learning (PAL) program, methods classes in the Teacher Education Program (TEP), and courses within the Elementary Math Education Concentration Program (EMEC). Her expertise spans over 15 years in education, including roles as a teacher, researcher, administrator, curriculum specialist, and instructional coach.
Dr. Choi-Vanos holds a bachelor’s degree in History (with a concentration in race, ethnicity, and immigration), a minor in Education Studies, a multiple subjects teaching credential, a Master of Education (M.Ed.), and a doctoral degree in teaching and learning (Ed.D.), all from UCSD. Her doctoral research focused on early science learning beliefs and practices among Latinx preschoolers from low-income families and their educators.
Her research and professional interests emphasize equity, access, and asset-based approaches in STEAM education for underserved communities. She actively serves on the board of the Teaching and Learning Collaborative, a nonprofit supporting marginalized students and under-resourced schools. Bailey advocates for inclusive educational practices and professional development for educators.
Her career highlights include bridging theory and practice in teacher education, advancing culturally responsive pedagogy, and promoting community engagement through service-learning initiatives.
