Dr. Babak Nahid-Mobarakeh is a Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at McMaster University, Canada. His research focuses on stability analysis, fault detection, and control of power conversion systems in microgrids and electrified transportation, including electric vehicles, aircraft, and renewable energy systems. He has supervised 21 Ph.D. and 59 Master’s students since 2004, many of whom now work at leading companies like Airbus, GE, and Safran.
Research interests include:
- Stability and stabilization of AC/DC microgrids
- Fault-tolerant power electronics and motor control
- Battery state-of-charge/state-of-health estimation
- Transportation electrification (ground and air)
He has authored over 250 peer-reviewed publications and holds 7 patents. Awards include Fellow IEEE (2022), Safran Group’s Best Research Project Award (2013), and multiple IEEE and French academic honors.
