Professor Ba Shusong serves as a Professor of Practice in Finance at The University of Hong Kong Business School since February 2025, concurrently holding leadership roles as Managing Director and Chief China Economist at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) and Chief Economist at the China Banking Association.
His academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Economics from Central University of Finance and Economics (1999), Master of Economics from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (1994), and Bachelor of Engineering from the same institution (1991), supplemented by postdoctoral research at Peking University (2001) and a Senior Visiting Scholar position at Columbia Business School (2013).
Professor Ba's research spans Financial Regulation, Risk Management, Asset Management, Banking, Capital Markets, Real Estate Finance, and Sustainable Finance. His expertise bridges theoretical research, policy decision-making, and market operations, with particular focus on China's financial system evolution and global integration.
