Assoc. Prof. Behçet Stays is an academic in the Department of Sociology at Bingöl University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Doctorate in Sociology from Sivas Republic University (2023) and has served as Associate Professor since 2023, following roles as Assistant Professor (2021–2023) and Lecturer at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University. His research focuses on disability studies, social exclusion, international migration, and political sociology, with a particular emphasis on marginalized groups and urbanization processes.

Recent Publications: His 2024 study on disabled individuals’ social exclusion experiences employs phenomenological analysis, while 2022 works examine disability rights activism and digital inclusion via social media. Earlier research includes studies on university attitudes toward gender and the dynamics of state-civil society relations.
Supervised Theses: Currently mentoring two master’s students (Amine Aksoy and Elif Burhan) and has completed supervision of Nesibe Pala Çakmakçı’s thesis on generational neighborhood relations in Elazığ. Thesis topics focus on social exclusion of disabled families, stigmatization of divorced individuals, and marginalized groups’ urban integration.
Professional Activities: Peer review for 10+ sociology journals including Bingöl Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü Dergisi and Journal of Social Humanities Sciences Research. Authored/co-edited 4 books on disability studies, migration, and social movements, including 2022’s Bölgesel ve Küresel Gelişmeler Işığında Uluslararası Göçler.
