Research Interests:
Prof. Barış’s research integrates family sociology, gender studies, child welfare, and social policy, focusing on social exclusion/inclusion mechanisms and the economics of social services. He examines how macro-economic trends and policy frameworks affect marginalized groups—particularly single-parent families, Syrian refugee children, the elderly, and disabled individuals—through both quantitative and qualitative lenses.
Recent scholarly output demonstrates a clear trajectory towards disaster-related social work (post-earthquake volunteering), migration and education (international students’ adaptation), and green growth-health expenditure nexuses. His publications in high-impact journals such as Energies, Amme İdaresi Dergisi, and International Journal of Energy Economics and Policy reflect an interdisciplinary approach combining social policy, economics, and environmental sustainability.
