معرفی
Dr. B. Ward is a Professor and Co-director of the Centre for Natural Hazards Research at the Department of Earth Sciences, Simon Fraser University (SFU). He holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) from the University of Alberta (1986) and a Ph.D. from the same institution (1993). His primary affiliation is within the Faculty of Science at SFU, where he contributes to teaching and research in Quaternary geology.
Education:
- B.Sc. (Hons.), University of Alberta, Canada, 1986
- Ph.D., University of Alberta, Canada, 1993
Research Interests:
Dr. Ward specializes in Quaternary geology, with a focus on glacial history and paleoenvironmental reconstructions. His work integrates sedimentology, stratigraphy, and surficial mapping to understand the dynamics of the Cordilleran Ice Sheet. He explores topics such as drift prospecting for kimberlite deposits and the impact of glacial meltwater processes on geological features. His innovative research on raised sea caves contributes to coastal migration studies and glacial history. Recent projects include studies in the Chehalis Valley and sub-till lacustrine sediments near Prince George, challenging traditional assumptions about ice coverage and interstadial periods.
Advising and Collaborations:
Dr. Ward has advised graduate students such as Derek Cronmiller and Patrick DesRosiers. His research often involves interdisciplinary collaborations to address complex glacial and environmental questions. He actively seeks to mentor students interested in Quaternary geology and forest geoscience.
Labs and Teams:
He co-leads the Centre for Natural Hazards Research and contributes to SFU's Earth Sciences research groups, including Quaternary Geology, where his expertise drives projects on glacial dynamics and environmental change.
