Azimjon Kuvandikov

Azimjon Kuvandikov serves as a Lecturer in Accounting at the Essex Business School, University of Essex, where his interdisciplinary research bridges accounting, finance, management, and corporate governance. His work critically examines how governance structures influence labor outcomes and firm performance through mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and corporate restructuring events.

He holds a PhD in Management from the University of York and an MA in Accounting and Finance from Lancaster University. Prior to academia, he gained industry experience at a top-four international accounting firm specializing in financial consulting, auditing, and corporate restructuring.

Research Interests: His work centers on corporate governance mechanisms including board diversity, activist shareholder interventions, and executive ownership dynamics. He investigates how these factors drive employment impacts and performance outcomes in M&A contexts, with specific focus on intangible asset accounting, workforce rationalization, and wealth distribution between stakeholders. His methodology combines quantitative analysis of large-scale corporate datasets with theoretical frameworks from institutional economics.

Analysis of his publications (2014-2022) reveals consistent exploration of governance-labor-performance linkages in M&A, particularly examining how activist hedge funds, board composition, and ownership structures mediate post-merger workforce adjustments and value creation/destruction across different stakeholder groups.
