Aylon Cohen is a Departmental Lecturer in Feminist Political Theory at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Political Theory Network and University College. He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Chicago, an MPhil in Politics from Oxford, and a BA from the University of British Columbia.
His research focuses on the intersection of queer-feminist theory with early modern political history. His current book project examines the historical evolution of fraternity and sodomy as co-constitutive symbols of democratic equality in Early Modern England. This work traces how gender and sexuality discourses reshaped democratic ideals post-1688 English Revolution, centering on heterosexual manhood as a model of equality.
