Dr Stuart White is the Nicholas Drake Tutorial Fellow in Politics at Jesus College, Oxford, and Associate Professor of Politics in the Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR). He holds affiliations with the Political Theory Network and the Centre for the Study of Social Justice (CSSJ). His academic background includes a BA and MPhil from Oxford and a PhD from Princeton. He previously taught at MIT before joining Oxford in 2000.
Stuart’s research focuses on democratic theory, egalitarianism, and republican citizenship, exploring anti-capitalist yet non-authoritarian political models. Key themes include property rights, popular sovereignty, and policies for economic equality such as basic capital grants and inheritance tax reform. His work spans political philosophy, public policy, and the history of political thought.
