Ayako Hiyoshi is an Associate Professor (Docent) at Stockholm University, Department of Public Health Sciences, and a Guest Researcher affiliated with the university. She holds additional roles as a Honorary Senior Research Fellow at University College London and Visiting Associate Professor at Osaka University. Hiyoshi obtained her PhD in Epidemiology from University College London (2013). Her research focuses on life-course influences of socioeconomic, psychological, and environmental factors on health, with notable projects supported by the Swedish Research Council (Forte) and others. Key research areas include bereavement impacts, disability and cancer correlations, and work-life dynamics post-retirement. She contributes to public health initiatives through teaching epidemiology at Örebro University's School of Medical Sciences. Her work spans epidemiological studies on global health (e.g., COVID-19 case-fatality analysis), mental health (e.g., depression post-amputation), and environmental health (e.g., particulate matter effects).
