Aya Ghalayini is a Teaching Fellow in Economics and International Business at Aston University's College of Business and Social Sciences since 2021. She holds a PhD in Economics from Lancaster University Management School (2022), an MSc in Finance from the American University of Beirut (2016), and a BSc in Mathematics (2015). She also earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from Aston University (2022).
Her research focuses on applied financial econometrics, particularly modeling mixed-frequency financial/economic data and time-varying parameters using Bayesian analysis. She teaches courses like Portfolio Management, Investment Management, and Fixed Income Securities, emphasizing practical applications of finance concepts.
Aya is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and previously taught at Lancaster University and the University of Exeter, where she received a teaching excellence award. Her professional activities include membership in the Higher Education Academy network.
