Axelle Ferrière is an Associate Professor of Economics at Sciences Po and a CNRS Research Fellow, joining the Department of Economics in 2024. She is also a Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), and her work bridges macroeconomics and public finance with a strong focus on policy impact.
Her research centers on designing fiscal and budgetary policies that reduce inequality without compromising economic growth. Using advanced computational models, she evaluates the redistributive benefits and behavioral costs of taxation and social transfers. She investigates household responses to tax reforms and the role of ambiguity aversion in amplifying economic crises. Her work has demonstrated that government stimulus financed through progressive taxation yields a stronger multiplier effect, particularly evidenced in U.S. economic history.
Axelle was awarded the 2025 CNRS Bronze Medal, a prestigious honor recognizing early-career researchers who have established themselves as specialists in their field. This award highlights the impact of her work in developing theoretical frameworks while providing practical tools for public decision-making.
