Axelle Brodiez-Dolino is a CNRS Researcher and holds an affiliation with the Norbert Elias Center, a joint research unit between CNRS, the School for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences, Avignon Pays de Vaucluse University, and Aix-Marseille University. Her work focuses on the history of poverty, humanitarianism, and social policy in 20th-century France and the Western world. She earned a doctorate in contemporary history from Université Paris 8 (2004) and holds the French 'agrégation' in history.

Her research explores charity organizations like Emmaüs and Secours Populaire, health/social vulnerability, and modern poverty dynamics. She co-led a National Research Agency-funded project on health/social vulnerability and authored Combating Poverty: Social and Health Vulnerability from 1880 to the Present (CNRS Editions, 2013). She also serves as Assistant Director of Le Mouvement Social journal.
