Axel Gosseries is an FNRS Research Professor at the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain), affiliated with the Hoover Chair in Economic and Social Ethics. He holds an LL.M. in Environmental Law from SOAS (1996) and a PhD in Philosophy from UCLouvain (2000). His research focuses on distributive justice, climate justice, and intergenerational equity, with notable publications including What is Intergenerational Justice? (2023) and La justice climatique (2024). He currently serves as President of the Research Institute of Philosophy (ISP) and Head of the PPE Program at UCLouvain.
Dr. Gosseries has taught at 19 international institutions, including the University of Milan, University of Minho, and University of Bergen, and co-organizes the Georgian PhD Summer School in Ethics and Political Philosophy. His research affiliations include visits to institutions such as the Institute for Future Studies (Stockholm) and Harvard University’s Program in Ethics and Health. He actively supervises PhD and postdoctoral researchers in ethical and political philosophy.
