Awais Ahmed

Awais Ahmed is an Associate Professor of Structural Engineering at the Department of Built Environment, Faculty of Technology, Art and Design (TKD), OsloMet. He holds a Ph.D. in Computational Solid Mechanics from Delft University of Technology (Netherlands) and an M.Sc. in Earthquake Engineering from IUSS and Università degli Studi di Pavia (Italy).

His research focuses on computational mechanics of materials, advanced finite element methods (XFEM, phantom node), and damage modeling in fiber-reinforced composites, asphalt concrete, masonry, and concrete structures. He also explores multi-scale analysis techniques for structural integrity assessment.

Recent publications emphasize phase field modeling for fracture analysis in construction materials, with notable contributions to asphalt concrete and concrete structures. His work addresses critical challenges in infrastructure durability and seismic resilience.

His research group is affiliated with structural engineering initiatives at OsloMet, focusing on computational tools for material failure prediction and structural performance under extreme conditions.
