Awadij Brodsky

Dr. hab. Awadij Brodsky serves as a university professor at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, where he runs a dedicated violin class. Renowned globally as a virtuoso violinist, he has performed with prestigious orchestras including the London Philharmonic, Moscow Philharmonic, and Jerusalem Symphony, and notably played Niccolò Paganini's Guarneri del Gesù during his 1998 Italian tour with the Simfonica di Savona.

Born in Kyiv, Brodsky studied under Olga Parkhomenko and David Oistrakh. His early career included a solo debut with the Kyiv Philharmonic Orchestra at age 11 under Dmitry Kabalevsky's direction. Despite Soviet travel restrictions that barred him from international performances for five years after his 1977 Wieniawski Competition victory, he relocated to Poland in 1981 and launched a prolific career.

Professor Brodsky's artistic focus spans classical violin repertoire, jazz interpretations, and film music. His extensive discography features concertos by Brahms, Bartók, and Tchaikovsky, Ysaÿe's Six Sonatas for Solo Violin, and popular albums including Beatles covers and Scott Joplin ragtimes. He actively bridges high art and popular culture through television appearances and cross-genre collaborations.

Beyond concert halls, he has appeared in the comedy film "To Ja Thief" and television series "U Pana Boga w ogródku", demonstrating his versatility across artistic domains.
