Avlin Imaeda, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine (Digestive Diseases) at Yale School of Medicine and Medical Director of the North Haven Endoscopy Center. She specializes in metabolic health, weight loss management, and gastroenterology. Her clinical focus includes endoscopic procedures for weight loss (e.g., endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty) and management of GI diseases such as GERD, diarrhea, and constipation. Dr. Imaeda has transitioned from a research background in immunology to clinical practice, emphasizing preventive medicine and patient-centered care.
Education: BS from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (1990), PhD from Yale University (1996), MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine (2000), residency and fellowship training at Yale School of Medicine.
Research Interests span endoscopic training using simulators, outcomes of endoscopic interventions, and small bowel angiodysplasia localization. She has contributed to studies on medical education and workflow optimization in endoscopy units.
Notable Awards include the American Gastroenterological Association Future Leaders Program (2014), Kushlan Award for Best Research Fellow (2007), and Phi Sigma membership (1989).
