Wasif M. Abidi

Wasif M. Abidi, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Center for Advanced Endoscopy at Baylor College of Medicine. Board-certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, he specializes in endoscopic interventions for gastrointestinal disorders.

• Education: BS from Haverford College, MD-PhD from New York University School of Medicine
• Training: Residency at Mount Sinai Hospital (Icahn School of Medicine), Fellowships at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (Harvard Medical School)

Research Interests include:

• Innovative endoscopic procedures for obesity management (intragastric balloons, sleeve gastroplasty)
• Treatment of bariatric surgery complications
• Pancreatic and biliary disease management via ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound

Scientific Awards include the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NIH), Excellence in Tutoring Award from Harvard Medical School, and President's Service Award from NYU.
