Dr Avi Boukli is an Associate Professor of Criminology at the University of Southampton since 2022, affiliated with the Institute of Criminal Justice Research. They hold a PhD in Law from the LSE Law School (Onassis Foundation Scholar), focusing on human trafficking intersections with international criminal law, security, and human rights. Previous academic roles include positions at Birkbeck, LSE, Teesside University, and The Open University.
Research interests span illegalised migration, media representations of trafficking, poverty, organized crime, security, victimisation, coloniality, and environmental harm.
