Ave Palm is a Junior Research Fellow in English Language and Literature at the University of Tartu's Institute of Foreign Languages and Cultures, Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Their research focuses on academic reading practices in English as a foreign language, gender/sexuality interpretations in modern literature, and 20th-century literary analysis.

Research Interests: Ave investigates how university students perceive academic reading in EFL contexts, and explores contemporary interpretations of gender/sexuality themes in seminal works like Radclyffe Hall's The Well of Loneliness and Djuna Barnes' Nightwood. Their work bridges literary analysis with applied linguistics, emphasizing reader-response theory.
Academic Supervision: Currently pursuing a PhD under Prof. Raili Marling, analyzing 21st-century reader interpretations of 'invert' themes in queer literature. Previously completed an MA thesis supervised by Jane Klavan on EFL reading perceptions.
