Austen Parrish is the Dean and Chancellor’s Professor of Law at the University of California, Irvine School of Law. He previously served as Dean of Indiana University Maurer School of Law and held leadership roles at Southwestern Law School. His expertise spans transnational law, civil procedure, constitutional law, and federal courts. Parrish has authored numerous scholarly articles and co-authored books on topics like extraterritorial law and legal education.
Education: B.A. (1994) from University of Washington; J.D. (1997) from Columbia University School of Law. His research focuses on international law, transnational litigation, and the extraterritorial application of domestic law. He has received prestigious awards such as the Provost’s Medal (2022) and Bicentennial Medal (2019).
Parrish actively contributes to legal education through roles in the Association of American Law Schools (AALS), including serving as President-elect (2024–2025). He leads initiatives like the Fred T. Korematsu Center for Law and Equality at UCI Law. His articles address jurisdictional issues, sovereignty, and global legal frameworks, reflecting his commitment to advancing international legal scholarship and practice.
