Aung Hein

Dr Aung Hein is an Assistant Professor in Public Policy at the School of Government and International Affairs, Durham University. His research focuses on informal organisational dynamics and their impact on public institutions in developing countries.

Research interests include state capacity, bureaucracy, civil service reforms, organisational socialisation, and office politics. His work examines how direct supervision shapes civil servant integration and how office politics affects public sector effectiveness.

Current research trends highlight cross-country studies on civil service transformation, particularly during the pandemic. Collaborations with policymakers have informed initiatives like Ghana’s Onboarding and Orientation Policy.
